We have been working with the local Hutt City Council and looking at how we can make it easier for individuals to attend and enjoy Symposium.  We also have an option for visitors to stay in the Hutt region in campervans/caravans provided they are certified self-contained (CSC).

Transport

Bus loop and shuttle

A bus will loop around the primary areas in the Hutt/Petone region morning and night. In addition Shuttle buses will loop around the key event, parking and transport areas to pick up and drop off those registered to attend the event ($2 donation). 

  • This pick up drop off will include the all day parking options listed below including parking for campervans.
  • A map of the route will be available closer to the time on our website.

Transport options from Wellington Airport

Parking  

There is no public parking at Sacred Heart College for all day parking.  There will be limited parking for Mobility Passes and those involved in supporting the event, electricians, caterers, First Aiders, IT.  All will need a Quilt Symposium Pass to be able to park on site, obtained from the Quilt Symposium Office.  We have had a high number of requests for Mobility Parking and we will work with all of them to find suitable parking.

Drop-off zones

The next best option is an early arrival if attending a class, drive in to the designated Drop-Off Zone in the College grounds and drop your equipment/bags at the College and then head away and park. We will have a secure area for equipment to stay close to the front entrance until you return.  Rotary Clubs in the Hutt Valley have volunteered to assist us with on-site parking at the College, please follow their direction.  We recommend you come early and then avail yourself of a coffee from the Coffee carts on site.  They open at 7.30 am.

All day parking

Locations for all day parking will be Riverbank Car Park (over 800 car parks $4.00 per day) and Hutt Valley High School (around 100 carparks $4-5 per day).   Shorter term parking is available in Myrtle St, Riddiford Gardens, Events Centre parking areas, among others.

Storage

We have a secure room where machines can be stored safely overnight and when not in use.  The school is alarmed.

Accommodation

Campervan option - overnight parking for Campervans

Hutt City Council have allocated a parking area 3 km from Sacred Heart College. This will be available for any Certified Self-Contained Vehicle (CSC) if you are registered to attend the Quilt Symposium or NZMCA Member wanting to visit the Exhibitions and the Merchants Mall for up to 8 nights in October.

  • If you are a member of NZMCA you will understand how it works. Pack in/Pack out.  Cost is a flat fee $50.00 per vehicle and you can stay up to 8 nights from Sunday 2 October 4.00 pm onwards (not earlier and strictly enforced) to Mon 10 October 10.00 am 2022.  Prebookings are recommended, let us know via the link below the number of nights required. 
  • User this link for  Campervan Bookings  it has most of the informaiton you may need.  The site is 3 km from the venue and will be part of the shuttle run for pick up and drop offs, or grab an Uber.  Payment is made after confirmaiton (within 48 hours).  Any questions -send an email after viewing the link to:  kerrystewartnz15@gmail.com
  • Non powered only, no awnings pegged out as hard parking, all weather area. The local Wellington NZMCA members have volunteered to assist with parking. See https://www.nzmca.org.nz/

There are also sites available at Top 10 Wellington, located in Petone.  Power & unpowered sites, motel units and cabins http://www.wellingtontop10.co.nz/

  • There are several other campervan sites available around the greater Wellington areas, refer to the NZMCA website for details. The closest NZMCA Park is located at Plimmerton.  

Other accommodation options

There are several motels in the Lower Hutt, Petone areas for you to stay locally.  See booking.com to see possible accommodation, but we recommend you phone the property directly if you are interested,
