Clare is a textile artist and costume maker based in Wellington. Her early training was in the sciences before completing a teaching diploma, a degree in Visual arts and then a diploma in Costume Construction. Recently she has been a fulltime student of raranga (Maori weaving).
Clare has been teaching dyeing, screenprinting, fabric dyeing , quilt design and machine quilting since 1996 in New Zealand and internationally. She teaches an annual block course in costume dyeing and finishing at Toi Whakaari (the New Zealand Drama school) as well as classes at local high schools and for quilt guilds.
