Gloria lives on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria. She is a trained secondary teacher having worked mainly in the areas of literacy and special education.
Over the years she has dabbled in many areas of patchwork. After completing some studies in art, she began to make her large vivid landscape quilts depicting the Australian bush. These quilts have won many major awards, both in Australia and overseas. Her quilt ‘Kimberley Mystique’ was the winner of Australia’s national quilting award in 2003. Almost 20 years later, her most recent quilt, ‘Reflecting the Kimberley’ was awarded ‘Best of Show’ at the Victorian Quilters Showcase.
Gloria's recent work has been mainly based on architecture and semi abstract landscapes. Gloria is always striving to create movement and light in her work.
Gloria has written four books, and has travelled extensively both in Australia and internationally, teaching workshops, judging and giving lectures. She has also had a number of solo exhibitions both in Australia and overseas, including two invitations to exhibit at the prestigious NEC Show in Birmingham, UK.
In 2009, her commitment to teaching was acknowledged, when she received the Rajah Award, presented for an outstanding contribution to quilting in Australia.
