Irene Blanck lives in Melbourne, Australia. She has been quilting for the last 30 years and enjoys a wide range of techniques including machine piecing, english paper piecing, foundation piecing and needleturn applique. Irene started deigning her own applique quilts in 2007 and was asked to teach the first quilt she designed. She hasn't looked back from then.

Irene enjoys teaching all aspects of needleturn applique and instilling the love for needleturn applique. She runs her classes as sit and sew sessions where everyone can have a fun and relaxing day, enjoying chatting with friends as well as learning new techniques or perfecting learned techniques. She is now expanding into prepared edge applique as well as her version of "template" applique. Irene teaches all the shortcuts she has learned over the years - mostly gleaned from making mistakes and having to redo sewing over and over.

Irene had a book published by Quiltmania in 2015 called "Focus on Applique" which has really helped launch her international career. She has also had quilts published in magazines in Australia and Eurpoe, most recently in Today's Quilter, a magazine from the UK. Irene has also taught extensively in the USA, Europe and Australia.
